Welcome!

A. Ready Press endeavors to offer adroit fiction that engages the reader in current affairs yet inspects the past in which the present is deeply rooted. Whether about yesterday, today or tomorrow, speculative fiction is a vehicle to reveal obscured issues and examine daunting challenges that confront mankind. Whether about relationships, politics, or sheer survival, the passions of mankind are as old as time: envy, lust, sloth; the tension between tradition and novelty, between powerful and weak, and the pull of duty versus the temporary thrill of decadence. And how do people pass down culture to their progeny without either ossification or evaporation? The churning of human interactions is rarely settled.

Both the modern global atmosphere and one’s local environs—states, towns, neighbors and families—are part and parcel of life. Living today and anticipating the tomorrows to come involves the world around you…a world that begs understanding, compels self-reflection, and ignites a voyage of discovery. Yet perception of information alone does not yield knowledge and without discernment wisdom evades us. A robust exploration of the many long-simmering issues within various cultural, economic and political arenas is the burden of the living—we ignore the roiling pot at our peril. However, to some history feels dead, but stories engage and characters can inspire; so fear not, jump in! Better to participate, speak, pick up a book, and continue the journey.

#1 – Why A. Ready Press?

Green AAs a master of science turned communicator, I spent 30 years turning various dull or disconnected facts (regulatory requirements, environmental conditions, and project objectives) into meaningful information that decision-makers and the public could rely upon. I found a knack for sharing information with my audiences, not talking at them, but honing a message from my universe of knowledge to distill it into pertinent information to their needs and choices. I soon became frustrated when others could not deliver successfully—perhaps they had the knowledge base, but were unable to effectively communicate that knowledge, leaving their audience both under-informed and discouraged. I became the go-to person for public presentations, in-house briefings, regular newsletters and occasional video productions. I sought training in graphic design and explored my innate creative tendencies. I learned to use visuals, as well as written imagery to share my message or tell a story.

However, it was my early exposure to history, war images, and political arguments that inspired a lifetime of reading and seeking for a true semblance of reality through the fog of time, perspectives and often purposeful obfuscations.

On a lighter note, using beautiful art and engaging stories for young readers is also of interest to me. I hope to partner with budding artists to create delightful children’s books.
